Veterans Affairs

The Monona County Veterans Affairs Office offers assistance for a wide range of benefits to our veterans, service members and their families. This includes Federal and State benefits, as well as temporary county benefits to qualifying indigent veterans and their families.

The VA Office will be Closed from Feb 16th to Feb 27th.  The office will reopen on Monday, March 2, 2026, for scheduled hours.

Eligibility for county benefits:Monona County Commission of Veterans Affairs Seal

County assistance benefits for qualified applicants include rent, utilities, food, and burial expenses.

  • The individual must be a legal resident of Monona County and maintained residency for one (1) year
  • Have been discharged from the US Armed Forces under "Honorable Conditions"
  • Must meet Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG)
