2026 General Election

If you are unable to make it to the polls on Election Day, you may request an absentee ballot be mailed to you by completing an Absentee Ballot Request form and returning it to the Auditor's Office. Absentee ballot requests for the upcoming General Election will be accepted starting Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Monday, October 19, 2026, at 5:00 PM.  Please call the Auditor's Office at 712-433-2191 to receive a request form or visit www.sos.state.ia.us.

Once your completed request form is received in the Auditor's Office, your actual ballot will be mailed to you beginning Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Your voted ballot must be received back in the Auditor's Office by the close of polls (8:00 PM) on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in order to count.

Early Voting

You are also welcome to vote early in person at the Auditor's Office in the Monona County Courthouse beginning Wednesday, October 14th through Monday, November 2, 2026. The Auditor's Office is open Monday-Friday 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM. Please bring a valid form of ID to vote early in person.
